After detailed discussions, review and comparison of theory and practical courses plus hands on trainings in professional institutes like diagnostic labs. / hospitals, the members gave the following recommendations.

1.      All committee members unanimously recommended that DMLS/BSc (Hons) in Medical Lab Sciences should be a five years degree program rather than 4 years consisting of the following;

        Total credit hours are 172:

         Distribution of credit hours

a.       Theory  = 114 Cr. Hr

b.      Laboratory sessions  =  Cr. Hr =  30

c.       Professional training in hospitals and labs. on rotation in different sections = 28

2.      The committee is of the view that 5 years program is necessary to provide sufficient time to the graduates for better training in practical sessions / hands on training.

3.      Committee also recommends merging of some of the courses offered at UOL like Social psychology, Behavioral sciences, Basic pathology and special pathology to reduce the number of credit hours of theory and increasing number of credit hours for practical hands on training.

4.      Strength of UOL DMLS curriculum is the clinical Lab rotation in 9th and 10th semester. The committee also suggested to include clinical rotation in 3rd and 4th year as well to enhance practical training to meet the international requirement.

5.      All committee members unanimously recommended that the federal HEC may also be asked to constitute and hold meetings of “National Curriculum Review Committees (NCRC)” to formulate national curricula from the subject experts belonging to various part of the country, for Five (05) Years Programs of the DMLS, to address the concerns of more than 37,000 students enrolled till 2018, out of which around 4500 have graduated and majority have got their degrees attested by HEC Islamabad

6.      Formulation of curricula for the 4 years and 5 years program must be left on the subject experts who should follow the national responsibilities and must have the representations from all the provinces rather than Punjab alone. The yardstick here must be the HEC approved curricula of DPT and Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Moreover, the all universities should join hands to develop a national curriculum. To be able to develop competent medical lab professional of international standard and repute.
